In a short-term clinical study of adults with treatment-resistant depression,* those who took SPRAVATO® and an oral antidepressant experienced a greater reduction of depression symptoms at four weeks† (compared to those who received a placebo and an oral antidepressant). In a long-term study after 16 weeks of therapy, patients who stayed on SPRAVATO®‡ were less likely to experience a return of depressive symptoms than those who stopped therapy.
Coverage for SPRAVATO® is dictated by your insurance provider. We currently accept Anthem, United Health Care, Medicare and VA State Medicaid. Additionally there are patient support programs through Janessen Pharmaceuticals that can help pay for the cost of medication and treatments.
You will take SPRAVATO® nasal spray yourself, under the supervision of a healthcare provider in a healthcare setting. Your healthcare provider will show you how to use the SPRAVATO® nasal spray device.
No, it can only be administered under the supervision of one of our providers at our treatment center. You will be monitored for side effects for at least two hours.
If you miss a SPRAVATO® treatment, your healthcare provider may change your dose and treatment schedule.
Because of the risks associated with SPRAVATO®, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has required a special program called a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS). As part of the REMS, your healthcare provider will discuss the risks of misuse, abuse, sedation (feeling sleepy), dissociation (feeling disconnected from yourself, including thoughts, feelings, and things around you) while on SPRAVATO® with you. Both you and your healthcare provider must sign the Patient Enrollment Form for you to receive SPRAVATO® in an outpatient medical office or clinic, excluding emergency departments. Your healthcare provider will provide a copy of the signed form to the SPRAVATO® REMS.
